Our Challenge
The Tullow TEN project, located in deepwater Ghana, presented several challenges, particularly in terms of the deepwater pipeline installation. The 45 km subsea flowline, and 34 km gas export line, were required to mechanical constraints and fatigue associated with deepwater installation at depths of 1,800 meters. Additionally, the project needed a solution that could efficiently provide the flow assurance for transport of oil and gas over long distances.
Our Solution
ITP Interpipe provided an advanced solution for the Tullow TEN project, focusing on optimizing performance and addressing the project’s unique challenges:
- 100°C Design: The Swage J-lay Pipe-in-Pipe (PiP) system was designed with a strain-coupled structure, which was ideal for predictable and distributed behavior of the flowline at high temperatures.
- Deepwater Installation: The pipeline was specifically designed to withstand the mechanical constraints and fatigue associated with deepwater installation and operation at depths of 1,800 meters. Our solution ensured the pipeline could perform reliably over its entire lifespan.
- U-value 1.14 W/m²·K: The PiP system was designed with an ultra-compact structure, incorporating only 5 mm of Izoflex insulation to achieve the required U-value of 1.14 W/m²·K. This minimized material usage while ensuring optimal thermal performance, stability, and reliability throughout the pipeline’s lifecycle.
- Fast Field-Joint Sleeve Technology: To accelerate installation, we employed Fast Field-Joint Sleeve technology, which ensured fast, reliable, and secure field joints, minimizing downtime during installation.
Our Key to Success
The success of the Tullow TEN project was driven by ITP Interpipes ability to deliver a highly reliable and efficient pipeline system capable of withstanding the unique challenges of deepwater field development. Our advanced PiP solution not only met the project’s technical requirements but also ensured that installation could be completed efficiently. By utilizing cutting-edge technologies like Swage J-lay PiP, Fast Field-Joint Sleeves, and ultra-compact insulation, we helped Tullow and its partners achieve the successful field development.
