Our Challenge
The Haldia LPG project presented several engineering and logistical challenges. The project required the design and installation of a 2 x 2.4 km refrigerated LPG pipelines system under highly constrained conditions. The pipeline, which used 18’’/25’’ LTCS pipes, needed to operate at a low temperature of -45°C while maintaining superior thermal performance. The pipeline had to be fully buried in a congested corridor, which included crossing a national highway, a railway track, and densely populated areas. These factors required careful planning to minimize disruption and ensure the system’s safe and efficient operation.
Our Solution
ITP Interpipe’s Pipeline delivered a compact PiP system with the following features:
- Izoflex Insulation: To maintain the required temperature of -45°C and minimise heat gain for extended periods, our PiP system was equipped with Izoflex insulation. This insulation ensures a low U-value (< 0.1 W/m²·K), providing excellent thermal performance across the pipeline and minimizing boil-off gas, which is crucial for meeting Client’s shut-in requirements.
- Fast-Track Project Execution & Agility: The Haldia project required fast-track execution due to tight timelines and project constraints. We demonstrated agility by accelerating engineering and procurement processes, ensuring rapid delivery and installation despite supply chain challenges.
Our Key to Success
The successful execution of the Haldia project was driven by meticulous planning, innovative solutions, and a highly skilled workforce. Over 12,000 engineer and procurement manhours were dedicated to ensuring everything from procurement to installation was executed flawlessly. The collaboration between skilled engineers and advanced technology, including thermal insulation solutions like Izoflex field-joint kits, was crucial in overcoming the challenges posed by the extreme operational conditions.
